"these documents are more than enough, thank you", said no visa officer ever.
so it's that glorious time of the year again, i have to extend my visa, so that i can continue living here. it's bureaucracy extravaganza and like every year, they wanted different documents this year as well, which they didn't ask for last year.
- "this photo is a year old, therefore older than 6 months. i cannot take this" said the first officer that i had to see. there was a date somewhere on the photo thingy, so if i had just cut one out and given it like that, she wouldn't have seen it. that's all they need basically, one pass photo to put on my student visa card. so yeah, new photos need to be taken. cause i look so damn different than last year!
- the second officer that i had to see was a guy. thank fuck for that!! i know this is gonna sound sexist and i hate to say this as i am a woman myself, but the female visa officers are hell. they snap at everyone, answer questions with sarcastic comebacks and generally just treat you like shit. and it's very very rarely a guy. so i was in luck today.
- this year's best newcomer award goes to: the document that states how much rent money i get from my flatmates and how much rent i pay myself and how we pay the rent. i have to write it down and bring it to them. although i gave them the rent contract that is in my name and the bank statement, where it says how much rent i pay. so now i have to go back with other documents and then they'll let me know if they need even more documents, said the guy. i came home annoyed, only to find a letter from the insurance company on my desk, which says i should bring them documents to prove that i'm still a student. AAARRRGHH!
in times like these i feel like doing this:
